Building is Under Way

As you can see from the attached photos, building is now well under way. We have laid the foundation and finished the outside front of the building. To those who have donated so far, thank you so very, very much for your kindness. You can see how it is paying off!

However the fundraising goal is behind the building progress. In order to pay for the work so far we had to borrow some money to add to the funds raised so far. Even when the building is finished (and it still needs a lot of work as you can see!), that is only half the project: the other half includes a small staff residence, a generator, water purifying equipment, and all the furnishings and fittings of a small clinic.

Letter from Dhompa Community Leaders

Lama Tenzin has received a letter from the community leaders of Dhompa District. Here is a translation:

“To those who are wearing the armour of compassion and altruism, wealthy and generous:

“Lama Tenzin is trying to help us set up a small clinic here in Dhompa, and we all are very eager to see that this takes place. In all these villages, since we don’t have a hospital, or enough doctors or treatment, if this can happen it will save thousands of lives, and change the lives of so many people. It will have tremendous benefit. Therefore if you could make some contribution to this we greatly appreciate it.

Previous Projects

Here are photos of recent projects that our builders, Gala Yonam and Gala Jamyang, have completed.

First is Tong Nak Retreat Centre, completed in 2008. Located in Dhompa, it houses 15 retreatants and staff. The cost of the project was $30,000, and funds were raised in Canada through Karma Sonam Dargye Ling. The project took two years to build.

Second we also have a picture of the family home completed by Gala Yonam and Gala Jamyang in 2005. It is located in Yushu, China and is home to a Tibetan family of 9 people.

First Floor Plan

We now have a design of the floor plan for the ground floor. The clinic would also have a floor above that would mainly be one large space suitable for community events.
